The initiative of KEPES continues with the support of Masterplast

After completing the yards of nurseries, the renovations carried out in the framework of KEPES are focusing on the elementary schools.

In addition to the yard renovation of Táncsics Mihály Elementary School and its member institution in Teleki Sziget Street, a smart classroom will be installed at István Király Elementary School. Besides Masterplast, 22 companies from and around Székesfehérvár take part in the program and actively support the collaboration.

Last year, the yards of the János Arany Nursery, Elementary, Vocational and Skills-development School and EGYMI (Székesfehérvár, 90 Budai street), Zentai Street Elementary School (Székesfehérvár, 8 Zentai Street) and Hétvezér Elementary School (Székesfehérvár, 1 Hétvezér square) were renovated from where the irredeemable and dangerous playground accessories were dismantled and replaced with new ones. As in previous years, the renovation jobs were carried out by experts from the City Trusteeship during the summer and autumn months.

In the fremework of KEPES, among the elementary schools owned by the municipality and operated by the local education authority, Táncsics Mihály Elementary School and the member institute of Teleki Blanka High School and Elementary School located in Sziget Street are going to be renovated in 2021. In addition, a digital classroom will be installed at István Király Elementary School for the first time, which is a new element of the initiative of KEPES. The digital classroom will be installed by Alba Innovár Digitális Élményközpont.

“We always have to highlight: this program could have never been carried out without the willingness, incentive and hard work of the local companies, and the co-operation of the municipality and local education authority.  I am particularly proud that we could carry on this tradition that has been going on for years even in these socially and economically demanding times caused by the epidemic. I wish to say thank you to the companies who did not stopped at the kindergartens and continue their work to renovate the school yards and classrooms this year”, said Mayor Dr. András Cser-Palkovics apropos of the exemplary collaboration.” It is a special pleasure that a smart classroom will also be installed, allowing the transfer of state-of-the-art knowledge.

In 2020, the Local Education Authority of Székesfehérvár also joined the program, so the number of supporters was expanded to three participants.

The participating companies contribute to the renovation of schools with more than HUF 18 million this year.  The local education authority of Székesfehérvár contributes to the costs with the same amount, and the Municipality of Székesfehérvár covers the remaining amount. The fee of the implementation will also be financed by the municipality.

Besides the financial support, the scheme aims to enable the further development of awareness-raising and the culture of volunteering: so as a closing of the scheme a voluntary day will be held, where the volunteers, working groups, children and parents take part according to the plans. On the Voluntary Day those works were carried out that contribute to a nice and well-arranged environment in the schoolyards.

City Administrator István Bozai said that a popular trampoline, obstacle course and rope pyramid are going to be built in the courtyard of the Island, all of them equipped with impact absorbing surfaces, and with new benches and rubbish bins. The works are starting in July and will have been finished by August 31. In Táncsics, after the complete redevelopment and demolition of the old pavements, a new rubber pavement is going to be built under the toys. Once the solid coverings are installed, a two-tower play castle, pergola, benches and two new basketball hoops are going to be placed, while the net of the small ball court is going to be repaired.

It is a milestone that Alba Innovár was able to enter the KÉPES program – said Tamás Laufer, President of the Foundation for the Development of Székesfehérvár. “It is very important to teach our children skills that will enable them to live a joyful life. We set up the first smart classroom in the Széna tér Primary School, then it was the second in Rákóczi. Furthermore, the teachers are taught to involve children in the lessons and give interesting lessons on a project bases, taking full advantage of digital classrooms.”

As it was said, the participating companies contribute to the renovation of schools with more than HUF 18 million this year. The local education authority of Székesfehérvár contributes to the costs with the same amount, and the Municipality of Székesfehérvár covers the remaining amount. The fee of the implementation will also be financed by the municipality. Whoever invests money, energy and resources in education is contributing to a better future – highligted Szabolcs Török, Director of the Local Education Authority.
